AMENORRHEA 


Amenorrhea 

This problem is one of the major problem faced by females now a days. Amenorrhea is absence or abnormal cessation of menses. It may be primary or secondary (due to some other reasons like lactation,emotional, dietary, exercise induced, etc). The most common primary reason seen in Amenorrhea is hormonal disturbances at the teenage and the common secondary reason seen is pregnancy.

Depending upon the reasons, symptoms of AMENORRHEA may vary in females along with the absence of periods such as:-



1. Milky nipple discharge 

2. Hairless

3. Headache

4. Vision changes 

5. Excess facial hair 

6. Pelvic Pain 

7. Acne

There are many reasons for AMENORRHEA like:-

1. Natural Amenorrhea

=) Menstrual cycle may be delayed due to some of the normal course of life such Pregnancy, Menopause, Breastfeeding.

2. Contraceptive

=) Many females take contraceptive pills for birth control. Even after taking birth control pills, it may take around a longer time than expected for the normal ovulation and for the return of menstrual cycle.

3. Medications 

=) Some medications can cause the menstrual cycle to stop or get delayed  including some types of Antidepressants, B.P drugs, Cancer Medication.

4. Lifestyle factors

=) Many a times lifestyle factors are also considered as the common reasons for amenorrhea such as 

  • Low body weight 
  • Excessive exercise 
  • Stress 

5. Hormonal Imbalances

=) Mostly hormonal disturbances are seen as the primary reason for the absence of menses.

Such as:-

  • Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)

It causes relatively high levels of hormones which causes delay or absence of menses.

  • Thyroid malfunction 

When thyroid gland starts malfunctioning causing hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism, it may cause amenorrhea.

  • Premature Menopause 

Usually menopause starts at the age of 50 but in some women it usually starts at the age of 40 causing amenorrhea.

1. Menses suppressed in plethoric girls ( girls who have ruddy complexion from widening of blood vessels under the skin.

2. Menses stopped suddenly due to a great emotional shock or stress or from exposure to dry ,windy,cold weather.

Medicine name- Aconitum Napellus (tds)

3. Menses suppressed with head symptoms  or due to a tumor in the ovaries.Mainly used in PCOD/PCOS. It acts very well specially in young girls when it appears that the menses are about to start but do not.

Medicine name- Apis Mellifica (tds)

4. Absence of menses in tropical conditions. Women become weak and nervous due to non appearance of menses.

Medicine name- Apocynum Cannabinum (tds)

5. A mere spot of blood instead of regular menses.

Medicine name- Argentum Nitricum (tds)

6. Young women at the helm of their youth lose their menses after hormonal treatment.

7. Menses suppressed in fat girls. Breast become tender and swollen during menstruation. Headache and chilliness before menses.
